In 2005, IOL became part of Trustco Group Holdings, marking a pivotal moment in its history. At the time of the acquisition, IOL served 2 500 students. Since then, the institution has experienced remarkable growth, with enrolments exceeding 62 000 students to date. This growth reflects IOL’s dedication to educational innovation, quality service delivery, and its ability to adapt to the evolving needs of students and society.
Over the years, IOL has transitioned from traditional Open and Distance Learning (ODL) to Open and Distance e-Learning (ODeL), embracing advanced digital technologies to enhance accessibility, interaction, and collaboration. Accredited by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) and registered with the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), IOL ensures its qualifications meet the highest national standards and align with the needs of employers and society.
IOL is committed to integrating sustainability and environmental initiatives into its operations, fostering growth not only for the institution but also for the communities it serves. Through partnerships within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, IOL extends its impact, empowering students to become agents of positive change.
